Process/Progress

What were the knowledges and skills required to undertake this project?

Who did I work with?

While every video was shot, edited, and produced by myself, it would be a plain lie to say that I had no help. From my family members to fellow colleagues, I received both feedback and motivation to keep going. Had it not been for them, I would've had an incredibly difficult time, and I probably would've quit just a month in.

What notes did I keep?

Notes were absolutely crucial for this project. Before every video, I had to make sure I do a "practice run" so that I'm fully prepared for recording a video. In the beginning, my notes were incredibly messy and jumbled (click here for an example), but after writing a bit clearer and spacing out my words a little bit, I was able to have much less cluttered work.

What Have I Learned?

How To Teach

In order to teach someone something, one must know the topic that is being taught INSIDE AND OUT. In my case, I needed to do research and practice the problems before every video in order to make sure the reader understand what I'm talking about. When I was in my classes, I've noticed that the teachers would always prepare beforehand so they're ready to present, and so I decided to do just that. The experience was just as I expected, as there was a lot of work to be done before every video.

How to Organize My Time

I had to make sure that I had enough time to do all of that research, and I had to make sure that I spent an adequate amount of time with each problem. I couldn't just spend a couple minutes on a video and move on to the next one. Rather, I spent much more time per video to ensure that there were no mistakes.

How was this whole experience different from my hypothesis? I initially didn't think that making videos would be so time-consuming, and I thought I would make hundreds of videos. But in reality, I instead took the time to make sure the videos I do post are of high quality, and that they weren't error-ridden, thus resulting in about 40 videos. If there was one thing I would change if I could when I started, it would be to spend less time making thumbnails and more time shooting and editing the video, because there were instances when I would spend more time making a thumbnail than editing a video.
